Facial Cleansing Brush: Foreo Luna 2 Mini Review

I was lucky enough to be sent a Foreo Luna Mini 2 to put to the test. If you want to read the full haul from ry.com.au click here. I have used a few types of cleansing tools and brushes previously. What had my attention and what I felt separated this brush from the rest was that it was made entirely of silicon.

My main concern with cleansing brushes in the past has been the hygiene and cleanliness of them, regardless of the amount of cleaning and changing of the brush heads. The idea of the brush is to help improve the overall skin and to clear up congested skins with open pores, blockages and breakouts. But this seems counter productive when you are potentially using a brush full of bacteria and who knows what else.

By using Ultra-hygienic silicone the device can overcome those issues and hesitations due to silicon being nonporous and then able to resist bacteria buildup. It has also been found that silicon and Foreo is 35X more hygienic than standard nylon cleansing brushes.

If that wasn't enough to make it a clear winner in the brush cleansing world, here are some other awesome facts about the device.

  • Another big win for this device is that it is actually BUDGET FRIENDLY (in my eyes), once you purchase the brush you don't have to worry about repeatedly changing brush heads, especially if you want it to remain hygienic. Multiple brush heads every year add up to a massive extra cost on top of the device.

  • I love the small compact size of the brush. It is surprising how light it is as well, which is awesome when factoring in travel use. I also kept the clear hard plastic container if came in - I thought this would be perfect as a travel case. Although it would easily fit in a toiletry case.

  • The device is USB chargeable (the only point I was a little unsure about at first). The battery life on this little guy is incredible. Foreo claims it should last 300 uses of a single charge (roughly every 5 months). I have been using it once daily for a little over 2 months now and it is still going strong.

  • The brush head has 3 different zones for different cleansing requirements; Thinner touch-points gently cleanse sensitive and normal skin, Thicker touch-points for precision cleansing & also broader touch-points on the reverse side address oilier skin.
I have been really enjoying using the Foreo Luna mini 2. I trust the cleanliness of the product and appreciate the convenience of a longer battery life. I was able to notice a deep clean using this device whilst surprised at how gentle it was on my face.

You can purchase any of the Foreo devices from ry.com.au

Have you heard of the Luna cleansing Brush? What tool do you use for cleansing your face? Let me know in the comments below.

Brand Focus: The Divine Company

Hey Guys,

Hope you are all having a wonderful week, can you believe it is the end of January already!

I wanted to start sharing with you more about the events I am lucky enough to be invited to.

The first event I wanted to talk about, was actually held by The Divine Company, for the launch of their newest collection – Divine Woman. (Mind you this event was held in November, so I am a little late on letting you know about this one)

‘The Divine Woman is authentic, confident and discerning, the choices she makes are an extension of her values.’

The event was hosted by Nick Allan, Managing Director of The Divine Company; it was fantastic to meet the heart and soul behind such an interesting company. I was able to have a wonderful conversation with Nick and could really see how passionate and educated he was on not only the products but more so the ingredients and the choices behind them.

What I particularly liked about this brand was the authentic vibe I felt whilst talking to them about their brand. The energy and philosophy was really inspiring. I was also able to connect as I had very similar opinions on health and wellness to some of the ladies I spoke with.

The company and products are certified organic; this is a big tick in my eyes. I love seeing how we can make nature work in its purest form to assist and enrich our beauty and skin care.

We were lucky enough to be gifted the Divine Woman Miniature Series*.

This pack included;

  • Hydrating Cream Cleanser
  • Daily Renewal Lactic Gel Cleanser
  • Soothing Rose Toner
  • Illuminating Day Cream

I have been loving this pack, especially the Soothing Rose Toner & the Illuminating Day Cream.

I was also lucky enough to be gifts a Ultra Perfecting Mask*, also from the Divine Woman range.

Hydration is something I have always struggled with for my skin. I have been really enjoying this luxe feeling mask, it is really creamy and dewy on the skin. The mask suggestions leaving it on for 15-20minutes, however like with most hydration masks, I choose to leave it on overnight. As I feel this gives me the best results. After sleeping with this mask on, I wake up with my skin appearing softer and hydrated.

You can check out any of the products I have mentioned on The Divine Company website.

Please let me know if you enjoy these types of posts, I will be sure to take more event photos next time and share those as well.

S x.

Product Focus: Medik8 C-Tetra Vitamin C Day Cream & Retinol 1TR Vitamin A Renewal Cream

As some of you may be aware I have been experiencing some changes in my skin over the past 4-5 months. At first I was a little confused by the changes and couldn’t understand why all of a sudden I was experiencing adult acne. I decided to make a few alterations to my skin care routine to focus and improve the issues I was experiencing. If you would be interested in a full skin care post, including some before and after photos please let me know as I would be happy to share my experiences to date and what I have done to help make a vast improvement.
Firstly I wanted to focus solely on two of my current big loves in my skin care routine – my day and night creams. Both of these are from Medik8 – I absolutely adore this brand; I love the new and exciting skin care innovations which they continue to launch. I chose to keep my skin care routine limited to a few brands. I found this has many benefits in itself, as we need to understand each product and what its individual strengths are. I also don’t want to be overlapping on certain ingredients, as this could lead to an unnecessary high dose and a potential skin irritation.
 Medik8 C-Tetra Vitamin C Day Cream* - $129, activeskin.com.au :

Helps energise and brighten tired skin with added hyaluronic acid to boost hydration and support the skin’s natural barrier. Combined with vitamin E for added antioxidant benefits. Suitable for all skin types. For first signs of ageing. Ideal for those with super-sensitive skin that want to try out retinol, but still with the punch to give you results you will notice and love. Suitable for all skin types.

My Experience: I adored the texture of this cream; it is very light and feels extra hydrating on the skin. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or anything either which is a nice added bonus. I found the absorption rate was also really good with this cream, which is very handy on those rushed mornings before work. I am also a big fan of anything that helps incorporate additional hyaluronic acid into my skincare routine, as I have struggled  with hydration levels for as long as I can remember. The added boost helps to brighten and even my skin tone.

Medik8 Retinol 1TR Vitamin A Renewal Cream* - $75, activeskin.com.au:

For first signs of ageing. Ideal for those with super-sensitive skin that want to try out retinol, but still with the punch to give you results you will notice and love. Suitable for all skin types. For first signs of ageing. Ideal for those with super-sensitive skin that want to try out retinol, but still with the punch to give you results you will notice and love. Suitable for all skin types.

My Experience: This cream screams luxury for me; I love the thicker formula, especially for a night cream.  I am sure you are wondering what TR is in reference to, right? Well this is in relation to the advanced technology of a 0.1% dosage (very gentle) which is gradually released through an innovative ‘time release’ process. This aids the practice for a slow delivery to into the skin – this is what helps to ensure a more gentle approach and reduced irritation. I would still suggest a gradual introduction of this cream into your skin care routine to ensure the irritation from the retinol does not occur.

Overall I am really enjoying both of these creams and finding my skin is responding really well to them. I am finding my skin is less dull and has a more youthful bounce to it which was very much lacking a few months ago.

Beauty Oils

Using oils as part of your beauty regime can seem like a pretty daunting thought. It can be an even harder concept to grasp that when it comes to your skin, oils are not just oils. They can actually be some of the best way to combat skin issues and actually nourish your skin.

I have been incorporating oils into my daily skincare routine and am loving the results.

Benefits of using oils include;

  • They are amazing for dry skin.
  • They help to protect your skin, keeping the good stuff (moisture etc) in and the bad stuff out!
  • They help calm irritated skin.
  • They can be great for acne (tea tree for example) - and no face oils wont give you acne.

What are some of your favourite face oils?

Leave me a comment, I would love to know!

Obagi Nu Derm System

Do you remember how your mother would tell you not to judge a book by its cover?

Well I feel that relates PERFECTLY to these products. I have always been drawn to attractive package & would often purchase based on that alone prior to knowing anything about a product.

These products are completely the opposite to my norm - I was contacted to review the Obagi Nu Derm system as it was the most relevant to my skin type & needs. I wasn't previously aware of the brand (which I now find shocking & hard to believe) & not all that intrigued by the packaging as it reminded me of products my grandma used to own. A quick google search quickly changed my mind as I soon realised the range was actually cosmeceutical. Looking at the packaging now made a lot more sense - it does resemble similar packaging to medicines. As I continued reading I also began to realise how much potential and how widely loved the brand was.

I have started this week using the foaming gel, toner & exfoderm forte. I am already impressed with what I am seeing but I will keep that for my full review which I will post in approx 6 weeks.

Stay Tuned Beauties.

Face Mask Focus: Glam Glow Supermud

So I have been thinking for a while - I have a serious love for face masks & I don't really ever get a chance to share that. So I will be sharing a Face Mask Focus on all that I test and try.

That way you can learn from my purchasing mistakes as well lol.

Firstly I wanted to share a product from a range I have great love for. GLAMGLOW

Few things though, I personally don't see the value in buying the larger sizes due to them actually drying out before I can use all of the product. I definitely recommend getting samples of the products first - I found the tingle of the youth mud to be far more intense than the super mud. To the point I almost panicked - so it definitely wouldn't be suited to all.

I have a full review and demo of the super mud on my youtube channel, make sure you check it out to find out more.

Review: Rimmel BB Radiance and Lasting Finish 25HR Powder

Rimmel have launched two new products recently, The first being a new addition to the current BB cream line, BB Radiance - Rimmel’s first skin-perfecting makeup that illuminates skin with a natural, healthy looking glow! This product is available in three shades. (Very Light, Light & Medium – I am using Medium)

The second product is a 25hr lasting powder, available in four shades. (01 Light Porcelain, 02 Soft Beige, 03 Silky Beige and 05 Warm Honey - I am using soft beige)

I initially had been using these products together as I much prefer a matte finish & have found previously when using other BB creams that I was left feeling greasy and heavy feeling. However I have found this BB cream sits quiet well on my skin & I did actually receive a few comments around the ‘glowyness’ of my face.

The BB cream claims to have a 9 in 1 formula that primes, smooths, conceals, minimizes pores, moisturizes, brightens, provides natural coverage, and awakens tired skin. The formula is also meant to contain a Vitamin C Complex which awakens tired skin, along with an SPF 20 to protect.

The Lasting Finish powder is a powder to foundation formula - my favourite of all powder formulas. I enjoy that this powder is quite light on the skin but also very buildable for additional coverage as it claims.

I have been enjoying the finish of these products whilst used together, finding they provide a light coverage which still allows for a very fresh & flawless glow. It is the perfect base for my 'no make up make up' look for those days when I want to look put together but want to put in minimal effort - or on those days when I press that snooze button one too many times.

Below is a swatch of the BB cream in the shade Medium. It at first appears a tad too dark for me but once blended into the skin is an ok match. I found applying this product with my fingers worked the best for me.

And Before & After photos with the BB cream & both BB cream & Lasting Finish Powder.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave me a comment with any questions you have about this product or if you have used it, please tell me your thoughts.

My Secret to Clearer Skin

Recently I re-introduced a product to my skin care routine. To be honest I am not sure why I stopped. I was telling my friends about it and how much I am impressed with the results, only to be surprised at how little some new about Glycolic Peels.

I have been using the John Plunketts Essentials Glyco Peel along with the collagen lift moisturiser, which I was lucky enough to receive in my goodie bag from the Obsession Beauty Event.

Often a glycolic peel will be used in conjunction with a facial when at the spa. (and who doesn't love going to the spa). However this did provide a handy alternative to do from the comfort of your own home and for a fraction of the price.

This peel is of clinical strength with 25% glycolic acid, ideal to be used at night time. I use a small amount and smooth over my entire face and allowing to dry before applying the moisturiser. (You will be surprised how long this 'small' 15ml tube actually lasts) The peel works by exfoliating the most outer layer of skin, helping to remove any old and dull cells sitting on the skin surface. Initally there is a slight tingling sensation but this quickly disappears. Glycolic peels work fabulously for people with pimples or acne, uneven skin colouring. The wonderful thing about the John Plunketts peel is that it also contains two additional ingredients, lactokine & aloe vera, to ensure the peel does not result in any inflammation or dryness.

I will sleep in this peel & wash off with my morning cleanser. Initially I applied this peel on two consecutive nights, then allowing my skin a night off before applying for two more consecutive nights. This was to kick start the process and give my skin the boost it needed. I will now use this peel twice weekly to ensure my skin is maintained. I should mention my skin is slightly more on the sensitive side and I have not had any issues with becoming dry or irritated.

After only using this product for 2-3 weeks I can honestly say my skin is completely transformed. Prior to using this peel I was struggling with congestion in my forehead. No amount of normal exfoliation was able to provide results. I have also noticed that my skin has a more even tone and has an amazing revitalised glow. I definitely feel a few years younger! Hooray!

As always remember when using any sort of peel type products or treatments your skin may become more sensitive to the sun – it is (as always) very important to ensure you are wearing a daily sun cream to help protect your new amazing skin.

I would love to hear your thoughts if you have used any glycolic peel products & which are your favourite.

You can purchase the Glyco Peel direct from www.plunketts.com.au retailing for $29.95 or Priceline & selected pharmacies.

DIY Delicious Lip Scrub

All right beauties, nothing ruins plump kissable lips like dry chapped skin!  So lets get those kisser’s ready. This little tip is actually perfect for those cooler harsh winter months but we sometimes forget how much attention our lips need during the summer months as well.

This simple DIY can be made with what you already have in your kitchen pantry.

You will need:
· Small Bowl
· Teaspoon
· Small storage container (I got mine from the grocery store, it is used for storing salad dressings)

Ingredients:
· Brown Sugar
· Coconut Oil (you could use olive oil, honey or Organic Shea Butter instead) · Vanilla essence to taste (I skip this step as it already tastes amazing)

Depending on size container which you will be storing the lip scrub. In a bowl place enough brown sugar to ¾ fill your container. Slowly add a few drops of oil and mix. You want to be left with a course consistency but have added enough oil that the products combine.

And there you go, you have just made a very simple yet very effective and not to forget extremely tasty lip scrub!

I personally will use this in my morning routine, prepping my lips before applying lipstick. This also ensures my lip products apply smoother and last longer throughout the day.

I also have a video on my YouTube Channel all about this exact lip scrub if you would like to check that out as well. Quick Tip | Natural Lip Exfoliant

Make sure you let me know if you have any similar recipes which you make at home or any other amazing DIY, I would love to hear about them!

Much Love, S .x.
